Report Card

I got my first report card of Grade 2 on Monday! I am doing GREAT!! Mommy and Tony are very proud! Guess how many A's?? TWO!!! I got both A's in Math. I love math! Just like my grandpa. Then I got 5 B's and 4 C's. Also very good! I need to work the most on my writing, french, phys ed and music. I got all goods and excellent for classroom participation, initiative, cooperation, homework, and problem solving. My teacher wrote:

"Carter is a pleasant and cooperative student. He is a good citizen who gets along well with his peers. He enjoys participating in all class activities and discussions. He consistently follows classroom rules and routines. He comes to class prepared to work. He would benefit from practicing his printing at home. Next term, I would like Carter to improve the overall presentation of his written work."

On the same day I got my report card it started to snow! Not too much is on the ground but it was really sticky so all week I've been working on a fort. It's so cool! We had to get our flu shots this week too. We all got one but I waited until last and boy was it unpleasant. Mommy had to hold me to her so the nurse could give it to me but then 5 minutes later it was fine. I just HATE needles. It was worth it to go to Dairy Queen afterwards. And while we were waiting I met a new friend to play with and got to play with Daniel. I think everyone that lives in Embrun was getting a flu shot...it was busy!

First Snowstorm/Halloween

We have updated my blog in quite awhile. We had a pretty busy month of October. We had lots of fun playing in the leaves and enjoying the weather. Last weekend I got to spend the weekend at mommy's. We had a great time! On Saturday it was pouring rain so we went to the Science and Tech Museum. We hadn't been there in a long time. And there wasn't many kids there. We had lots of fun and then went to Wendy's for a treat afterwards. On Sunday Tony was off too so we went on a roadtrip to Hershey's. We had to go one more time before they close for good. I don't think Mexicans can make chocolate as good as we can. It took us a LONG time to get there and I saw way to many cows and horses but finally we got there. And they were actually making chocolate bars!! We saw them making Oh Henry's and then got some nice fresh ones to bring home. Yum!!! They didn't have as much chocolate there anymore but we definately got a lot. My belly was so full.

Last week was Tony's birthday too. We didn't do to much to celebrate since we had eaten so much chocolate from Hershey. But that night we got our first snowstorm of the year. Before Halloween!! I went to bed Tuesday night and it had just started to snow and blow and then on Wednesday when I woke up it was DARK! Mommy said she'd meet me with a flashlight in my room and I told her "don't worry I'll just turn on the light". But the light didn't work. No power!! Our power was out all night and didn't come on until after lunchtime. So it was a snowday!!! Mommy and Tony were off to so we spent the morning keeping warm in the house and then went out to play in the snow. It was perfect for snowballs and fort building. And we even went in the evening to pick pumpkins from the farmer in the snow. How silly is that. They were frozen solid so we had to wait a day to carve them. But didn't I draw nice pictures for mommy to cut out??

This year I went trick or treating with Clark at daddy's. We got 3.5 bags of candy!! I dressed as a horse to go trick or treating but I thought the other kids would think I was a doofus if I wore that to school so at school I was a fireman. We even got candy at school and we spent the whole afternoon going from class to class to play games.

I have lots of work to do at school this year. We have spelling tests every week and the words are hard. And we have math speed tests for addition each week. Those are even harder...you're not allowed to use your fingers. Craziness. But last week on my spelling test I got 10/10!! Yahoo!!

Interim report card

More exciting news from school! Today I got my interim report card. I did great! I was marked on 4 things and could get a Needs Improvement, Satisfactory, Good or Excellent. Here's what I got

Homework - Good
Independent Work - Satisfactory/Good
Intiative - Excellent
Social Skills - Good

My teacher wrote "Orally Carter can give lots of information but he experiences difficulty expressing himself in the written form."

It's so much easier just to tell the answer then to make a sentence. I'm sure I'll get it eventually. I think that's pretty good though!

My First Math Test

I had my first math test today and got 26/30. Yeah for me!!! I'm so smart!! It's been busy at school. Tomorrow I have an oral presentation. I have to bring something special to me so I'm bringing the musical instrument that Auntie Jodie and Uncle Paul brought me back from Peru. It's special.

Fall

I think fall has arrived. I am back at school now and in grade 2!! Can you believe it?? My teacher is supposed to be Ms Beaupre but she was only there for a few days and then she got sick. So we had Mrs W and then she got sick so now we have Mrs Richard. She's pretty nice. The first few days were really rough. I was a little homesick and wanted to spend more time with mommy but by the third day I was all settled into routine again and ready to go. I'm really eager in class this year and can't wait to learn new things. It was nice to get back and play with all my friends again too.

The Russell Fair was a couple of weeks ago. We went for the evening and had a lot of fun! I went on a lot of rides...some with mommy, some with Tony and some by myself. It was so much better then the Super Ex! After the rides we went to watch the truck pull. There were tons of other people watching this year too. It was pretty exciting.

Last weekend we had visitors. When I came back from daddy's on Sunday Auntie Jodie and Kate were here. Kate is getting big...but she's not walking yet. She sure liked me. Just watched me walk around and talk. That night we had Tony's family over for dinner too. I always have fun playing with Lyz. Monday after school we went apple picking. It looked like it was going to rain but it didn't. Whew! Auntie Jodie took some really nice photos of me. And the apples sure are yummy. Mommy is going to make me apple crisp...I love it! Then on Tuesday Auntie Jodie and Uncle Paul and Kate came to pick me up at school. That was pretty neat. I helped Uncle Paul with some chores and then when mom and Tony got home we went to the cheese factory for curds and ice cream. Yummy!! On Wednesday morning when I got up our visitors had left. That was pretty sad. I miss having them around.

Oh and while they were here visiting we had the coolest car in our driveway. Uncle Paul's friend John left his yellow Mercedes convertible here. WOW!! I got to go for a ride and work the roof. It was the coolest thing ever!!

Today is a rainy Sunday at mommy's house. Tucker is being crazy. This afternoon I'm going to Seth's birthday party. It's just down the street so we don't have to go far. I better get ready.

Summer is over

We are in the last weekend of summer already. Where did the summer go?? I am counting down the days to go back to school. At first I wasn't so thrilled but now I am getting pretty excited. Back to school and see all my friends again. We went school shopping yesterday for all the supplies...my backpack is bursting!! I think mom is going to have to carry it in for me the first day. It's heavy!! I think this year my teacher is going to be Ms Beaupre. I know she's nice because she was my reading teacher last year.

The summer went by so fast it didn't seem like we did a lot...but I guess we did. We had our big vacation up to Sault Ste Marie in early July. We borrowed Shannon and Nat's mini van and that got us there so much better. I had a blast playing with Emma at camp. And Grandpa and Papa too. And we finally got to meet Auntie Jodie's baby...I think her name is Kate. I had my 4 wheeler race against Papa's tractor and this time I won. But I think I should've been disqualified since I ran right into Papa. Silly me! I sure love the four wheeler. It's sweet!

We used our pool quite a bit in July but then it got really rainy and cool and we haven't used it much in the past few weeks. We tried to go swimming yesterday and it was soooo cold!! Even colder then on Wednesday when we swam in the St Lawrence River. Brrr!!

We had some adventures in the past few weeks too. Lelita (Tony's sister) and Chico were visiting from Portugal so we had a lot of fun with them. We toured the Royal Canadian Mint, and the market downtown, we did some shopping with them and had a lot of dinners with them. One day we went to the Civilisations Museum and Lyz and me played in the Children's Museum. They even have a Bob the Builder exhibit. That was so cool! Then this past Wednesday I went on a day trip up to Upper Canada Village with Julia, Tony, mommy, Lyz, Dee, Lelita and Chico. We had a blast! We got to learn a lot of stuff at the village because it wasn't too busy. Do you know they use dried bugs to add the red colour in Fruitopia?? Gross!! We saw lots and lots of horses too and they were really friendly. This time we even got a boat ride in the boat pulled by the horse. Neato! Finally we took the little train ride over to Crysler Beach and had a HUGE picnic with the family. We went swimming too and it really wasn't that cold. I also collected a ton of rocks...Julia is a good rock collector too. She's crazy...she was feeding the birds and actually picked up a seagull...gross!

We must have done more things this summer too but I can't remember.

Oh and the biggest news of the summer is that "Tank" is on the way!! Mommy is pregnant!! I found out sometime in July and at first I didn't even believe it but then boy oh boy did I ever get excited. I started to tell everyone I saw. I decided to call the baby "Tank" if it's a boy and "Tanker" if it's a girl. I think they're good names. I'm anxious to start setting up the baby's room. I talk to Tank all the time and give mommy's belly kisses. I actually saw the baby on tv a few weeks ago. We went for the ultrasound and it was so cool. You could see his big head and body and little legs and arms. It looked like an alien to me. Pretty amazing that that is in mommy's belly. I think soon we'll be able to hear the heartbeat...now that will be cool.

Happy Canada Day

I am having a great summer vacation so far! It has been very relaxing. Mommy and me are both enjoying being off and spending the days playing. We've been in the pool every day. It's getting warmer but we still haven't got it to stop leaking. Next year I think we'll need a new pool. Bummer. We spend lots of time just playing outside too.

This week we had our BIG Canada Day BASH!! What a party!! I was so excited to be here this year for it. It started early in the afternoon. Lots and lots of people came over. We had fun in the pool (lots of people got thrown in) and just playing in the backyard. I ate a lot of food...so much that I had to take a rest on the grass...my belly hurt so much. Then we had a big bonfire, loud music and fireworks. The fireworks were the best we've had yet. What a party!! I roasted marshmallows for everyone and ate s'mores (but mine had no marshmallows on them...I like to roast them but only eat them raw). Tucker and me were both pretty tired after the party. What a day! Oh and one of the funniest parts of the party was that I hid Rob's shoes...then he slept over and got up early in the morning with Tony and he couldn't find his shoes. So he drove home barefoot. He didn't even want to borrow another pair. Silly eh? I hid them good! Jodi was here with her little puppy Chewy. I want him! He's a king charles spaniel and really tiny. Tucker didn't even care about him...he didn't even think he was a dog. I tried to trade her Tucker but she didn't want him back.

This weekend we're going for our vacation out of town. We're leaving Saturday for Sault Ste Marie and coming back on Thursday. We haven't got a bigger vehicle yet so Tucker and I will have to share the backseat. It could be bad... I'm excited to see everyone again in the Soo. I miss them!

But before we leave to go there tomorrow night is the demolitian derby in Casselman. Hope it's sunny so we can go.
