Report Cards

We actually are going to post to the blog twice in one month! It must be a miracle. :) I finally got my first real report card last week. It's a good one! I got all B's and 1 C (in French). My teacher writes "Carter enjoys being at school and gets along well with his peers. He is showing good growth in the basic skills. At times, he is inattentive and needs reminders to listen attentively during instructional time. He has made great strides in participating more during discussions and enjoys sharing his ideas. Carter is developing better work habits; however, he does need reminders to stay on task. He is encouraged to use his time more wisely in order to become more productive and to complete his work on time." My mom pretty much agrees with the teacher. Sometimes whats going on in my imagination is so much more interesting then what she is teaching. But everyone is very happy with my report card. And guess what?? In 3 months I went from reading nothing to going to reading the average of my class (level 5). That's a pretty great accomplishment!

Our other big news is we just got back from Sault Ste Marie. Mommy and me left on Wednesday morning. And when we woke up Wednesday morning...holy cow...snow everywhere!! But we hit the road anyhow and left Tony and Tucker behind. Tony had to work and Tucker is too big to travel in the little car. The trip there was good. We only stopped twice on the way there and on the way back...in Deep River at Tim's and at Espanola at Wendy's. It was pretty great to spend some time with grandma, grandpa, papa, aunt Jodie, uncle Paul, Emma and Aunt Carrie. The first night I just stayed up playing with grandpa and grandma and we watched the whole Sens game...right until the end. But the Sens lost. Then on Thursday we went to visit Papa. He sure was happy to see me. And in the afternoon we went out with grandpa. First to get his oil changed in the truck (we didn't even have to get out of the truck) then to Home Depot and the TSC store. Pretty exciting! Grandpa got me a big blow up Tony Stewart car with snowmen as a pit crew for our front yard. I can't wait to put it up! So exciting! And we went out to McDonald's for lunch. Then Emma and Auntie Carrie came for dinner and to play. On Friday we visited Papa again and then went geocaching at Hiawatha with aunt Jodie, uncle Paul and the two silly dogs. We walked forever and we never found the geocache. Their was supposed to be a red ribbon on a tree to tell us the second coordinates and I think the ribbon blew away. Oh well we had a great time anyhow and got hot chocolate to warm up afterwards. Then it was the big sleepover! First to Papa's for a very yummy dinner and to play and then to grandpa's for the big sleepover with aunt Carrie, aunt Jodie, and Emma. We played tons of games, won prizes and watched Ratatouille. It was a blast! Mommy and aunt Jodie fell asleep during the movie but not Emma and me! In the morning we had more fun playing and then we watched Evan Almighty...boy I love that movie. In the evening we went to great grandma Dukes. Had fun visiting with all the family and I especially enjoyed racing and playing shuffle board with Brandon and Courtney. Boy now that we're home I sure miss everyone in the Soo. But it was good to get home and visit with Tucker and Tony again. Tucker sure missed me!!

Tonight was my last swimming lesson until January. I got a report card from there too. I did such a great job in Swimmer 1! I can do a back float for 10 seconds by myself and I can jump in with no one hanging on now. Yahoo!!

That's all for now. With swimming lessons and parent/teacher interview today there was no time for homework. Oops! I better do twice as much tomorrow.

November

Once again no one has updated my blog in a VERY long time. I think Daddy has stopped doing it altogether. We haven't even had an update since I started school. Boy that's a long time ago!!

So what has happened since I last posted...Auntie Jodie and Uncle Paul did come to visit for almost a whole week and they brought their silly dogs. At first they didn't like Tucker's silliness but by the end of the week they were all friends. Tucker sure loved having playmates around and sure missed them when they left. It was exciting that they got to be here for my very first day at my new school. So exciting! I took them out to St Albert cheese factory to buy some curds and we all went to the Russell Fair. Riding the spinning penguins with Uncle Paul was my favorite. We practiced riding my two wheeler too but I still dont' have the hang of it...maybe one day. Oh and the most exciting news of their visit is that Auntie Jodie found out she is pregnant while they were here!! I am going to have another cousin. Neat!!

Now onto school...it took me a long time to adjust and at first I was crying every morning but then mommy told me to just keep telling myself that "I am brave...I will not cry" and guess what? I didn't cry anymore! My teacher is Ms Pepin. She's really nice and young...even younger then mommy I think. I have a lot of teachers though...I have Mrs Cameron for science and another teacher for music and then for reading I work with Mrs Beaupray. I'm in a special program and she's helping me read books all by myself. Yesterday I brought home a level 3 book and I could read the whole thing. Cool! It's pretty exciting to learn to read!! We got to the library every week too and we have gym. I've made lots of friends now and like playing with Ivan, Simon, Julia and Daniel. I also met two friends that live down the street Meghan and Emma. Meghan's been to play a bunch of times and we always have fun. She just loves Tucker.

I started swimming lessons again in September and this year I'm in Swimmer 1. I'm finally in a class with ALL boys! 4 other boys in my group and even my instructor is a boy. We get into trouble some weeks but I always have fun.

What else...I still love playing outside and after bringing Tucker for a walk after school we usually stay outside until supper time. So I get a few good hours to ploay and be crazy. Some nights (or weekends) we go visit Shannon and Nat. Shannon is the one who has a big tow truck...it's cool! And they have a brand new baby. We went to see her when she was only 1 day old in the hospital. I like to hold her hand and give her kisses.

What else is new...we went to the Senators Fanfest at Scotiabank Place back in September. And guess what?? We saw Daddy and Sylvie and Clark there so we sat with them. It was pretty cool to see all those hockey players up close. And we found out that Clark LOVES popcorn!! And at the end of September was the CIBC Run for the Cure for breast cancer. It was downtown and the walk from parking to the start of the walk was soooo long! We brought Tucker with us and registered him as well so we even put a t-shirt on Tucker. Lots of people took his picture...they thought he looked cute!

I still love spending time with Tony. We play PS2 all the time and cars and just hang out together. He brings me to school most mornings (mommy wakes me up before she leaves for work but it's really early in the morning) and then mommy is off in time to pick me up. But if it's Tony's day off then sometimes he picks me up and we hang out until mommy gets home from work. It's fun! And mommy goes to a fitness class one night a week so Tony puts me to bed on those nights...I get to stay up late. But shhhh...don't tell mommy!!

What else have we been up to...we went to the Meet The Teacher BBQ at my school and that was fun. I also did a Terry Fox Run at my school so mommy came to walk with me.

Oh we went to Metcalfe Fair too and got to watch a demolitian derby there and go on a bunch more rides and then just a few weeks ago we went to the big demolitian derby at the TSC store in Rockland! That was cool...crashum smashum in the parking lot! So this year I saw 3 demo derbies. They're so much fun!

Tucker is still growing like crazy. He's way bigger then me now. But I love him. We play all the time together and some nights he curls up at the end of my bed. This morning he was stretched out beside me with his nose on my pillow. Silly dog! He wants to share everything that I have...even my bath! He always comes in and wants to eat the soap and play in the bath bubbles while I'm in the tub but last week he actually climbed right in with me. Yup...he wanted to get clean too I guess. Silly dog! There wasn't room in there for the two of us.

I'm doing speech therapy again at school too. Maybe people will be able to understand me a bit better. I am really working hard at my c/g/th. It's getting there.

Tony's birthday was last week. He is getting old! So we had a good weekend together celebrating. We went for brunch at Lucky Seven and they had the coolest apple juice fountain. We got him a air hockey table and I think mommy and me like it as much as he does. I'm pretty good!

That's all of an udpate for now. I think that covers two months worth. Tomorrow is pizza day at school...yum! Then it's off to daddy's for the weekend.

September

It's been almost another whole month with no post. Holy cow!! We do have a bit of an excuse though. While I was on holidays with my dad for a week the computer broke down. We tried to fix it but ended up with a million pieces so we went and bought a new one. This one works a little better...not the best though. Hopefully we can get all my pictures off the old one.

So I had a busy past month. I was gone with my dad for a week. When I came back the pool was too cold to swim in. We got a new solar blanket for it but it's still really cold. So it might be the end of swimming for the year...hope not though. We took a few trips to museums...went to the Experimental Farm and to the Children's Museum. We also went to the St Albert cheese factory with Andy and Nat one day. They have the best ice cream and cheese curds. Yum...I love curds!! Other then that not too much is new.

Last night we went to the Stormont County Fair and got there just in time for the demolitian derby. It was the COOLEST!! Over 3 hours watching cars and mini vans smuck up. So cool!! It was cold and the bleachers were all full so we had to sit on the ground but that meant we even got the flying dirt from the cars coming our way. Cool!! We missed going on the rides and exploring the rest of the fair but it was worth it for the crashed cars.

Oh and when I got back from daddy's my room was finally done!! That's the picture at the top. How cool is that?! I think I have the coolest room ever. Now mommy is working on the bathroom. Right now we don't even have a toilet in there. So silly! I'm going to help her put in the new floor today. I'm a great helper.

That's all for now. Auntie Jodie, Uncle Paul and those two silly dogs are coming to visit on Monday for the week and my very first day of grade 1 is on Tuesday. I'm excited!!

First tooth out!!

I have BIG NEWS!! I lost my first tooth!! I am so excited and proud. I'm turning into a big boy! I'm all ready to start grade one now. My tooth first became loose back in early June so it's been that way for a good 7 weeks now. It was time to come out! So last night we went into Tony's mom's house for some dinner. I ate a bunch of bread and then started pulling on my tooth. At first it started to bleed so I got scared and then I just wanted mommy to pull it out and get rid of it. So she did. I was so surprised to see it in mommy's hand. The blood was icky and it hurt but it was worth it! I think I'll keep my other tooth that's loose for awhile yet though. I couldn't decide what to do though...I wanted to keep my tooth but I still wanted the tooth fairy to visit. So I went to bed to think about it...fell asleep and this morning I woke up to a note from the tooth fairy and a loonie. She said she came looking for my tooth but couldn't find it but her back of money was heavy so she left a loonie. She asked me to leave my next one for her though. We'll see...

So that's my big excitement!!

Other then that we've had a pretty great week. On Sunday we all headed out to the Chesterville Fair. It was blast!! I went on a bunch of rides and we watched the tractor pull for ages. It was great! Then on Monday was mommy's birthday so Tony and I got up early and made her breakfast in bed. And I shared it with her. It was so sweet! We had to go into Ottawa to do some errands so we ended up having lunch at Red Lobster...mommy enjoyed it. I got her some very nice presents too...I picked out a beautiful carousel that sings music, the Flicka DVD and an animated race car movie. Pretty nice gifts! That night we had Tony's mom, Domingos, Shilo and Liz over to share in the DQ cake with us. I had a great time playing with Liz. Last night was more fun when we went into town to see the fireworks. We watched it from the balcony of the old Canada and the World Pavilion. They were so nice...and I got to stay up really late.

We've been having fun at home too. I've been swimming in the pool every day and helping mommy with the flower gardens and just playing outside. I've been going for lots of bike rides and we're working on painting my room. All the primer is done and guess what...it's PINK!! A very bright pink...yuck! And some of the black is done on the doors. Should be done in the next little bit.

I must go now. I'm enjoying playing in the air conditioning since it's so hot outside. Until we go out swimming that is.

Summer holidays

We are home from our holidays in Sault Ste Marie. It was quite the adventure!! We left on Saturday morning but by the time we got packed up it wasn't very early. We stopped in Ottawa for Tim Horton's and then were on the road. On the highway near Logos Land we saw a cool old car show so we stopped there for a walk to see the cars. They were neat! Then we stopped for lunch at Wendy's in North Bay. Then the adventure started...as we were driving through Sturgeon Falls something went wonky on Tony's car and he couldn't shift. So we were stuck...finally got into the parking lot a Mr Gas. Tony tried to fix it but couldn't so we stared walking around the little town looking for a repair shop. The only one that was open was at Canadian Tire but they didn't want to fix it. So we got a motel (and was it ever crummy!) and stayed there for the night. There was nothing to do there though. We went for a few walks and then got some crummy pizza for dinner. In the morning mommy went to Tim's to get us breakfast and a little while later Grandpa arrived. We left the keys in a shops mailbox for Monday and Tucker, mommy and me piled into the back of Grandpa's car. It was a tight squeeze! We stopped at Espanala for some lunch at Wendy's and finally got to the Soo later in the afternoon. What a trip!!

Our week there was good. I got to visit with Papa Pete, Auntie Kim, Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Jodie and Uncle Paul and those silly dogs Caesar and Lucy. Tucker had a great time playing with Lucy. They're about the same size. We took the dogs to a beach one afternoon, we stayed at camp for a whole bunch of nights going swimming, four wheeling and relaxing and playing. We also visted with great grandma and grandpa dukes. Unfortunately Emma was gone away on vacation again so we didn't get to see her. When we left to go home Grandma drove us back to Sturgeon Falls to pick up the car. It works good now! The rest of our trip home was uneventful and we were home late Friday evening.

Summer Vacation

Can you believe that July is almost over?? Summer vacation is going by way to fast. I had a good, long holiday with daddy last week and was there for 10 days. Now I get to spent 2.5 weeks with mommy and Tony. This week was spent mostly around home. We got the nice new swing (in the photo) on Sunday so we spent Monday setting that up. It's so nice!! That back garden is a great spot to play. We've been busy painting some more too. We finally got all the ceiling painted and then we decided to put up the ceiling fan from the old apartment in my room (so it's a bit cooler) but firstwe gave it a paintjob. I'm great with the spray paint. So now my fan is black and white to match what my new room will look like. We've got the base paint for my walls now and will start that after our holidays but yesterday and today we painted the doors. And we took off all the doorknobs and electrical covers and have been spray painting them black too. It's going to be so cool!! What else..we've spent almost every morning going for a walk down to the park. Most times there's other neighbourhood kids to play with. A few nights Jacob came over to play but one night he got into trouble with mommy so he hasn't been back. He has a hard time listening. Emily came over and helped us spray paint one afternoon too. So I've had time to play with my neighbourhood friends. It hasn't been very warm to use the pool...we only went in one day and it was so cold!

Yesterday I hung out with Tony for a bit while mommy was at work and then when mom got off we went to McDonald's for lunch and then to the Experimental Farm. It was so much fun! We got to go on the wagon ride and all the animals were really friendly. One calf even tried to eat me.

Guess that's all for now. We were supposed to go to the ATV derby tonight but the rain cancelled those plans. We got 7.5CM of rain today!!! The pool is practically overflowing and the ditches are all flooded. Tomorrow morning we leave for our vacation to the Soo. Oh I almost forgot...the other night we got Chinese food and my fortune was so bang on... "You have an active mind and keen imagination." How true is that?

RCMP Musical Ride

Yesterday was the last day of school. Yahoo!! Summer holidays!! Tony was off so we all went into school for my assembly. We left in plenty of time to get there for 8 but there was construction on the highway and it took us over ONE HOUR to get to school. We got there just as my class was performing the kayak song...so I missed it. Sheesh! But I did get to sing the goodbye song with the grade 1 class and then once we got back to our classroom we did the kayak song again for Tony and mommy. That was pretty special. Tony and mommy stayed for the morning and we played and did some work and then went outside for popsicles. I'm going to miss kindergarten but I'm happy to have the summer off.

It was so hot that as soon as we got home Tony and I went in the pool while mommy made some lunch. Then in the afternoon we went to work inside in the air conditioning. We got my room all cleaned up and then started to paint the ceiling. What a job! We all had paint everywhere. I'm a good helper. We did about half the house yesterday so we'll have to finish the other half today. That is just the primer so then we'll need to use the paint. Hopefully it's not as shiny once we're all done. Then we get to work on painting my walls. Yahoo!

Last night we picked up Lyz and went to the RCMP Musical Ride Sunset Ceremonies. It was soooooo great!! There wasn't that many people there so we got to sit real close. They added some new things this year but they still had to catch a bad guy...and guess who it was...a Maple Leaf fan! I had a ton of fun with Lyz and watching the horses. After the show we got to pet them. It was great!!

I ate McDonald's in the dark on the ride home and then realised that our bedrooms are all messed up when we got home so we all camped out in the guest room. I think Tucker was excited to have company in the basement. I think we'll have to sleep there again tonight.

So today is the first day of holidays!! We got to sleep in a little bit (until the phone rang) and now are just hanging out and playing. We'll do some more painting later and then I get to hang out with Tony tonight while mommy is at work.
